Standards Compliance
The Surveys are performed to ABYC Standards and Recommended Practices for Small Craft,
National Fire Protection Standard for Pleasure Craft and Commercial Motor Craft,
The United States Code and Code of Federal Regulations for Recreational Boats and
State and Local Laws.
The above Standards and laws are constantly changing and a vessel only has to comply with the Standards and laws in effect at the time of manufacture.
I will recommend compliance with newer Standards where personal and vessel safety will be improved.
Some of these items are, GFCI protection on receptacles in galleys, heads and on weather decks. Smoke detectors on vessels that persons will be sleeping aboard. Carbon Monoxide alarms on vessels with enclosed living areas. High water alarms on vessels stored afloat.
Your compliance with these recommendations is between you and your Insurance Company but I sleep better at night knowing I have alerted you.
